What Is Tensegrity?
Tensegrity combines tension and structural integrity to create stable structures where separate pieces appear to float or suspend without traditional supports.
The finished table may look impossible, but every string and structural piece is doing a job.
What You’ll Make
Participants construct their own miniature tensegrity table using prepared structural pieces and tensioned string.
The real challenge comes during assembly: adjusting tension, finding balance, and making tiny changes until everything finally settles into place.
Then comes the very satisfying moment when you can let go…and it stays standing.

This workshop is a creative engineering challenge, not a quick craft.
We’ll build the structure step by step, connect the suspension points, and experiment with tension until the table balances correctly. Expect some troubleshooting, adjusting, retying, and occasional questioning of the laws of physics.
