Tuesday Sept 15, 2026 | Crafts and Drafts: Art After Dark: Glow Up UV Portraits

$20.00

Glow Up: UV Portraits

When: Tuesday, September 15, 2026 | 6:00 PM–7:30 PM
Where: 550 Brewing Company | 119 E Chuska St, Aztec, NM 87410

You're Almost Registered!

We're excited to create with you! In Glow Up: UV Portraits, you'll transform a high-contrast portrait into artwork with a hidden second life.

This guided Art Bar blends photography, painting, light, and experimentation. We'll start with a prepared portrait image, explore how UV-reactive materials behave under normal and black light, then add color, pattern, texture, and details that completely change when the lights go down.

We'll show you the techniques and get you started, but your final piece is entirely your own.

Complete your registration below to reserve your seat.

Your Registration Includes

✔ Admission for one participant
✔ Prepared portrait artwork and project materials
✔ UV-reactive paints, pens, and shared Art Bar supplies
✔ Guided instruction and creative support
✔ Access to UV light for testing and experimenting
✔ Your completed UV portrait to take home
✔ A creative evening at 550 Brewing Company

What to Expect

Your portrait will begin as a bold black-and-white image. From there, you'll use UV-reactive materials to create details that look one way under regular light and transform under black light.

We'll begin with a quick demonstration of the materials and a few techniques for working with contrast, color, highlights, patterns, and hidden details. Then the Art Bar opens up and you decide where the project goes.

Create neon accents, dramatic makeup, glowing patterns, abstract details, hidden messages, or something completely unexpected.

No painting, photography, or art experience is required. This workshop is guided enough to help you feel comfortable with the materials but open enough that nobody at the table needs to make the same thing.

All ages are welcome! Younger makers may benefit from some adult help with detailed areas.

Workshop Arrival

Please plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early to check in, grab a drink if you'd like, and get settled before we begin.

We'll start together at 6:00 PM with a short demonstration before opening the UV Art Bar for experimenting and creating.

Before You Attend

Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for crafting. We'll be working with paints, markers, and other art materials that may stain clothing.

Your portrait image will be prepared before the workshop. If participants are providing their own photo, please follow the image-submission instructions listed with your registration so we have time to prepare it before the event.

We'll use black lights throughout the workshop so you can test your artwork as you go and see how each new detail changes the finished piece.

A completed participation waiver is required for all attendees.
