Sunprint Alchemy: Cyanotype Art

When: Tuesday, September 1, 2026 | 6:00 PM–7:30 PM
Where: 550 Brewing Company | 119 E Chuska St, Aztec, NM 87410

You're Almost Registered!

We're excited to create with you! In Sunprint Alchemy, we'll use light, shadow, and a little photographic chemistry to create one-of-a-kind cyanotype prints in rich Prussian blue.

This guided workshop blends photography, art, and science in a relaxed, beginner-friendly environment. You'll learn the basics of cyanotype, build your own composition, expose it to UV light, and watch your image appear during the developing process.

Complete your registration below to reserve your seat.

Your Registration Includes

✔ Admission for one participant
✔ Cyanotype materials and project supplies
✔ Objects and materials for experimenting with your composition
✔ Step-by-step instruction
✔ Your completed cyanotype artwork to take home
✔ A creative evening at 550 Brewing Company

What to Expect

Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that uses UV light to create striking blue-and-white images.

We'll begin with a quick introduction to how the process works, then you'll arrange botanicals, shapes, textures, and other objects to create your design. Once you're happy with your composition, we'll expose it to UV light and rinse the print to reveal the finished image.

No photography or art experience is required. We'll guide you through the process while leaving plenty of room to experiment and make your print uniquely yours.

All ages are welcome! Younger makers may benefit from a little help arranging and handling materials.

Workshop Arrival

Please plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early to check in, grab a drink if you'd like, and get settled before we begin.

Because cyanotype involves timed exposure and developing steps, the workshop will begin promptly at 6:00 PM so everyone can move through the process together.

Before You Attend

Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for crafting. Cyanotype solution can stain fabric, so clothing you don't mind getting a little messy is recommended.

Part of this workshop relies on UV exposure, so the exact exposure process may be adjusted based on available sunlight and conditions. We'll have everything prepared to keep the cyanotype magic happening.

A completed participation waiver is required for all attendees.

Questions?

We're happy to help! If you have questions before the workshop, please reach out through the contact form on our website.

We can't wait to see what you create with a little sunlight and alchemy.
