Changing Perspectives Illusion Art
Perspective changes everything.
Create an optical illusion that transforms as you move around it. Two images are broken apart and rebuilt into a dimensional piece of art, revealing a completely different view depending on which direction you look.

Adaptability: Adaptable for most abilities
Setting: Indoors
What You’ll Make
Participants combine two portrait-oriented 4 × 6 images into one dimensional optical artwork.
View the finished piece from one side and you’ll see one image. Move to the other side and an entirely different image appears.
Choose from a selection of prepared Rusted Rose prints, or make the project personal by bringing your own photos.
What to Expect
We’ll build the illusion step by step, breaking the images into sections and carefully arranging them across the dimensional surface.
The process is approachable, but the finished result looks surprisingly complex—and seeing the illusion work for the first time is half the fun.
No drawing or painting experience is required.
Why Pick This Workshop?
Changing Perspectives is a great choice for groups that want something personal, interactive, and a little brain-bending.
Photos can turn the project into a meaningful keepsake—family members, pets, favorite places, before-and-after images, or anything else that tells a story from two different perspectives.
Bringing Your Own Photos
Participants are welcome to use the prepared images provided during the workshop or bring two 4 × 6 portrait-orientation photos of their own.
Need photos printed? Pre-workshop printing is available for an additional fee. Images must be provided in advance so they can be prepared before the workshop.
Good to Know
This project can be adapted for a wide range of ages, skill levels, and abilities. The construction can be simplified for younger participants or groups that benefit from larger, easier-to-handle pieces, while more advanced groups can take on more of the measuring, cutting, and alignment themselves.
Portrait-oriented 4 × 6 photos work best. Images with clear subjects, good contrast, and important details away from the extreme edges generally create the strongest illusion.
